If you are bothered by dimply thighs, don't despair, there is a solution. Dimply thighs, caused by what's known as cellulite, is a combination of excess body fat and lack of muscle. You will need a healthy dose of determination and commitment, since strength training, cardiovascular exercise and proper nutrition are the best techniques to get the firm, sexy thighs you desire. As an added benefit, you will also experience an increase in energy, a better mood, better sleep and increased sex drive.
Cellulite
Contrary to popular belief, cellulite is just plain old body fat. The reason for it's dimpled appearance is simply because the fat cells in that area are so full that they are pushing through the honeycomb shaped connective tissue. Some women are more prone to this because they tend to store more body fat on their hips and thighs. There is no quick fix for this issue. No cream, potion, wrap or lotion has ever been scientifically proven to reduce dimply thighs. The best and only way to battle cellulite is with exercise and proper eating habits.
Strength training
If you participate in strength-training exercises three or four days a week for 45 minutes, you will see smoother thighs in approximately 12 weeks. You will start to see small changes much sooner, but at 12 weeks the results should be dramatic. You should see reduced body fat, firmer muscles and looser clothing. There are many strength-training machines that target the thighs. Your best bet is the extension machine to target the front of your thighs, as well as the leg press and hamstring curl. The hamstring curl targets the back of your legs and butt, while the leg press hits all your leg muscles.
Cardio
To eliminate dimply thighs quickly, you need to burn more calories than you consume and have an active lifestyle. Cardio can be a major player in your fat-loss program. The American Heart Association recommends adults get 150 minutes per week of aerobic activity. To battle thigh bulge, make that number your minimum and up the intensity. The step-mill, or stair climber, is one of the best machines for calorie burning. Set the level so that you don't have to bend over to keep up. It should be difficult to talk and you should break a sweat.
Food
Drive down any main street and you will be bombarded with messages to eat by billboards and restaurant signs. This food is cheap and plentiful. If you want to get rid of dimply thighs, however, your diet should consist mainly of fresh fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, healthy fats and complex carbohydrates. Calories do count, but you don't have to deprive yourself completely. Jay Robb, author of "The Fat Burning Diet," says to give yourself one cheat meal a week to make your healthy eating sustainable long term.
