Weight loss is most naturally achieved by eating a healthy diet coupled with a consistent exercise routine. It is unrealistic to expect to lose a lot of weight in a matter of hours if you haven't been following a healthy lifestyle. However, it is possible to start new, positive habits each hour of the day to be on your way to weight-loss success. Incorporating small changes into your daily routines can also give you the appearance of weight loss in a matter of hours.

Exercise burns off calories for weight loss. According to the Mayo Clinic, there are 3,500 calories in a pound of fat. Thus, to lose 1 to 2 pounds of fat per week, you will need to burn approximately 500 to 1,000 calories per day. The NHS recommends engaging in more than 150 minutes of moderate-intensity, or 75 minutes of vigorous, exercise per week for weight loss. To lose weight in one hour, run for 60 minutes three to five times per week at a moderate pace with a few hard sprints thrown in to increase caloric burn.

Increase Sleep

Add an extra hour of sleep to your nightly routine. According to Oprah, Dr. Oz and Dr. Michael Breus, adding just one hour of sleep, from seven to eight hours, to your usual sleep routine can help you lose as much as 14 pounds in 12 months. Plan to go to sleep an hour or two earlier than usual or count back eight hours from your usual wake-up time. For instance, if you need to get up by 7 a.m., plan to go to bed by 11 p.m.

Drink Water

Drinking water can help you drop fluid retention weight that leads to puffiness and a bloated belly. Water also helps fill you up, which prevents you from reaching for foods that lead to weight gain. Aim to drink eight to 10 glasses of water a day or more or less depending on your physical activity levels and medical status. Herbal teas, clear broths and fruits may count toward your daily water quota.

If you are tight on time and want to slim down for a party only a few hours away, work on improving your posture. Good posture can make you look taller, leaner and more attractive. Furthermore, Canadian Living cites chiropractor James Emmett as saying that carrying your body better can decrease tension and make you feel better about yourself. Stand tall with your shoulders underneath your ears and abdominal muscles engaged to look a pound or two slimmer in less than an hour.
